There are so many different computers on the market, that all give a list of very technical sounding information, frankly it can be a little baffling if you're not 'in the know'. If you are considering buying a new computer soon here are a few things that you should be thinking about:-
Firstly, what do you actually want to use the computer for? Are you a business or personal (home) user? Do you want the computer just to surf the internet and use email facilities? If this is the case there is absolutely no point in buying a top of the range model unless you want to waste a lot of money! If you are interested in doing a lot of gaming then you may want to look at a PC with a little more power and a decent graphics card. Also , if you just aren't sure what you want to do with the computer, then probably best opt for a fairly middle of the road variety but even then, don't buy the most expensive one out!
Daft point really but don't buy a computer simply because you like the way it looks when it doesn't offer you the facilities you require, or else, offers you less for the money than some other brands.
Look at the components of the computer - obviously this varies depending on what you are actually going to be using the computer for.
As a general rule you will want around 512mb of memory. Unless you are heavily into gaming you don't need a fantastically powerful graphics card - 64mb will be enough.
Monitor - this is the type of screen the computer has. A flat screen is certainly nice but not essential, however, if you have limited space to store your computer it may well be worth looking at this option.
You may be interested in buying a laptop, particularly if you are a business of education user. If you are buying your laptop for university it will probably be the most important item you will own while you are there. Look for Wi-Fi as this means that you will be able to connect to the internet without having to use a wire. It will need blue tooth capabilities for this also. Most laptops have this these days but it is still worth checking.
